Their Journey
How They Met
They found out about each other’s existence back in February 2024 — Anita was in Perth, Australia, while James was in Longyan, China. They started talking regularly through WeChat from April onwards, both shy and awkward at first.
After getting to know each other for a while, they decided to meet in person on the 22nd of October 2024 in Bali, Indonesia.
Later in Surabaya, James officially asked Anita to be his girlfriend and requested to meet her father to seek his blessing for her hand in marriage. Touched by his sincerity, Anita took James to meet her father, taking their relationship one step further.
The Engagement
The couple got engaged a few months later on the 8th of February 2025 in Surabaya, to the joy of many. They reunited in Bali in late January 2025 along with James’s mother, aunt, uncle, and cousin to celebrate Chinese New Year together before the engagement party.
A few months later, Anita, her mother, and her mum’s friend flew to Longyan, China, for another celebration with James’s extended family on the 3rd of May. The holidays were filled with plenty of dinner parties and hotpot.
The Wedding
During her time in China, Anita witnessed James’s quiet dedication firsthand — his earnest and sincere heart completely won her over.
A few days before her return to Australia, Anita told James that she now felt ready for him to wife her up. Hearing her words, his eyes reddened as he nodded.
And so, the wedding planning soon ensued.
After a long time apart and separated by the seas, the couple will finally reunite in late December 2025 to welcome the New Year together as soon-to-be-weds — ready to begin their long-awaited future together.
